HMS Provides COVID-19 Vaccinations in both Hidalgo and Grant Counties

This is Dan Otero, CEO of Hidalgo Medical Services. I wanted to provide an update for the residents of Hidalgo, Grant, and surrounding Counties. HMS has administered more than 534 initial doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine and 198 booster or second shots of the vaccine. Additionally, more than 80.5% of HMS employees have also been fully vaccinated.

Just to help residents understand the vaccination process better, I wanted to let you know how this works from the “inside.”  First, we order the vaccine weekly. Once the Department of Health confirms the number of doses they will allot to us, we set-up what is called an “event.” We set up these events at one of our locations and we have been rotating between Hidalgo and Grant County each week.

Once we have set-up the event within the Department of Health website, the DOH then sends us a list of the people they have assigned to our “event.” The Department of Health contacts those individuals, who then are able to go into the DOH vaccine system website and select their appointment time and receive their final confirmation code.

HMS then hosts the event for those individuals the DOH has assigned to our event. If we have extra doses as per the Department of Health, we must do everything possible to not waste those doses. Extra doses are offered to established HMS patients over the age of 75.

To register for the vaccine, you need to go to vaccinenm.org. The process is simple. If you do not have internet access or having challenges registering, HMS is here to help. Please call HMS Family Support and we will assist with the registration process. The number is 888-271-3596, and request support from the Family Support Services.

We at HMS are here to help you through the pandemic and beyond. We have integrated safety protocols in all our locations. Please do not neglect your healthcare needs.

We are committed to your total health.
Dan Otero, CEO of HMS
