“COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the health of our seniors. A lack of socialization can lead to anxiety, depression and an overall decline in general health. Opening our centers has been a priority for HMS and we couldn’t be happier to be making this possible! We hope to see all of our seniors back in our dining rooms to create friendships, build support systems and enjoy a meal together,“ said HMS Chief Support Officer, Mari Armendariz.
A registration form must be completed by all participants who come to lunch for the first time, temperatures will be taken at the door prior to entrance and masks will be required.
Reservations are required and must be made by calling the following by 9:00am each morning:
Ena Mitchell Senior Center: 575-542-9414
Silver City Senior Center: 575-388-2545
Santa Clara Senior Center: 575-537-5254
Currently HMS has not been able to hire adequate staff at the Gila and Mimbres Senior Centers to support congregate (In-Person) services safely but are working diligently to do so, as quickly as possible If you are looking for a rewarding career in service to our area seniors, please visit the
HMS Employment page.
The HMS leadership team and Board of Directors want to take this opportunity to thank all the amazing, dedicated HMS Senior Services staff for taking care of our seniors over the last two years. We look forward to supporting their dedication as we transition back to in-person services, stated Dan Otero, HMS CEO.
Despite various challenges, HMS Senior Services has provided over 160,000 meals to approximately 1,000 seniors in Grant and Hidalgo County during the pandemic. HMS Senior Services continues to make strides and the reopening of centers is an important step in regaining some normalcy in the community.
