HMS has received the “Pinon” award from Quality New Mexico. Only four organizations received recognition for their work as serving as role models in customer and employee satisfaction and engagement, sound operational management, innovation, and favorable outcomes and HMS is one of the four. The 2019 New Mexico Performance Excellence Award (NMPEA) is presented to organizations who exemplify commitment, progress, and dedication to organizational excellence.
CEO, Dan Otero, has focused HMS values on five concentrations that include service, culture, education, community, and excellence. The value of service is to respectfully serve others through high-quality and compassionate healthcare delivery and community health. The value of culture is to support the establishment, and sustainment, of an organizational culture conducive to quality healthcare delivery. The value of education is to provide quality health education to those we serve. The value of community is to demonstrate our responsibility to serve our communities in ways that align with our mission, vision and values. The value of excellence is to support and actively engage in the pursuit of excellence in all HMS does.
According to Dan Otero, “These values are not just words on a page, but the very core principals of HMS that are an integral part of HMS achieving the organization’s mission. This mission is to positively impact the health, well-being and quality of life of those we serve providing comprehensive, integrated, affordable healthcare and education of patients and healthcare professionals.”
This is the second year HMS has been honored by receiving the Pinon Award. This award is part of a multi-tiered assessment with stages one through three, that leads potentially to the prestigious Level 4 Zia Award. The Pinon award is level 2. The overall recognition process is modeled after the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award.
