Hidalgo Medical Services began asymptomatic COVID-19 testing in both Hidalgo and Grant counties on Monday, June 1st. “At the end of last week, it was determined that two Hidalgo County residents tested positive for COVID-19, which led to a request for increased testing,” according to Dan Otero, HMS CEO. In response to this request, Albert Diaz, Director of Nursing, immediately began coordinating efforts to increase testing for his hometown community members. Mr. Diaz and the great HMS nursing staff provided testing over the weekend, and are continuing testing daily, by appointment only, at the HMS Lordsburg Main Clinic from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. As of Monday, June 15th, HMS has tested 788 individuals in both counties, of which 22 were identified as positive in Hidalgo County, as tested by HMS.

“We are proud to support testing in Hidalgo County to help get this spread under control” stated Albert Diaz. “However, we are requesting the communities support, understanding, and patience as we work with the NMDOH and local governmental agencies to provide this service timely and safety.” He went on to say, “Our number one priority is safety during the testing process, for all parties involved, our community members and our employees.” Albert stated, He and the HMS employees have expanded the testing process to accommodate more tests per day; however, due to the complexity of the process, there is a limit to the number of tests that can be accomplished per day. Additionally, each result, when received, requires a call to each individual, with education and instructions. This is a very timely process and we can only provide the results to the individual tested,” said Albert Diaz.

To schedule your appointment for COVID-19 testing, please call HMS at 888-271-3596.
