HMS has some updates regarding their School Based Health Centers.
For those of you that do not know, a school-based health center (SBHC) is a health clinic located on or near school property that functions separately from and in cooperation with the school nurse’s office. The SBHC includes a team of qualified multidisciplinary professionals that supports the health, well-being, and success of students. The SBHC enables children and adolescents to thrive in the classroom and beyond.
Hidalgo Medical Services operates two school-based health centers in Grant County, one at Cobre High School and one at Silver High School.
Staff, faculty, and students of all ages can be seen at the School Based Health Centers for a full range of primary care services including well child checks, sports physicals, adult physicals, and treatment for injuries, illness, and allergies.
Many children have fallen behind on immunizations during the pandemic. Childhood immunizations are available at the health centers.
Children’s mental health services are also available at the health center.
It is quick and easy to make an appointment. For the Cobre School Based Health Center call 575-537-5069, for Silver School Based Health Center, call 575-534-1015 for more information or to make an appointment.
